removing Testor's tube glue
Posted by retdfeuerwehr on Monday, February 7, 2011 12:29 PM

This may be the wrong forum, but what's the best way to remove parts that have been tube glued on a plastic model? I inherited a Dragon UH-1N that had been partially assembled using Testor's tube glue...I want to separate the parts and use liquid cement. How can I best get those parts separated?

Freeze it. Stick it in the back of the freezer for a few days, this will cause the cement to become brittle and you'd be able to gently squeeze and separate the major components.

You're only other option is to do surgery with a micro razor saw, thread or knife.

Ditto It's going to depend on how much glue was used the first time around, and the type of plastic. Good luck & go slow!
