Mr. Stauffer:

Right-o about the wheels. I saw some tires on internettrains.com but they were not necessarily right for my model, as I also needed rims.

I will try to obtain basswood for the seats

I will post a link to the seat I am trying to carve later, as it is favourited on my home computer and I am at school right now.

Anyway,here is something close.

Re Hawkeye's post:

Nice model you posted.

I have finished the pontoons and the trailer, all I need now is the upper area.

Does anyone know of an outboard motor in HO or ways to do railings?

model freak

Thank you for your response and help.

What is an ISP?

I don't think even my dad will allow me to have photobucket , etc.

Painting may be kind of hard, as seats are balsa wood and need to be sealed, but also they are so extraordinarily tiny...

When you referred to the car market, could you give me some examples or links?

I was thinking rip the wheels off a Hot Wheels car because I asked at CVRCO yet they didn't have anything

I appreciate your experience and knowledge

James

ISP is your internet service provider.

If you can use basswood rather than balsa, sealing and filling the grain will be easier.  Balsa is used for flying model airplanes because of its light weight- for any other application basswood (tight, fine grain) is a better chose.

I didn't realize you were working in such a small scale. Indeed aftermarket wheels may not be available in that small scale- I think taking wheels from an old Hot Wheels car is indeed the way to go.

I made a Pontoon boat years ago using a couple external fuel tanks from an aircraft, some spare parts from the spares stash and some styrene stock. Later I made a canvas top and framework but it was damaged during a move.

This one was modeled after the one my grand parents owned which was made by Kayot. there were no seats, we used lawn chairs. Eventually my grandpa added a more permanent seat for the driver, a lawn tractor seat mounted to a pedestal. He also added storage compartments on the rear lip of the deck outside of the sidewalls to stow all of our gear as well as to hide the gas tank.

For a 1:87/HO scale you could make the pontoons from ink pen barrels. Pointy at one end, flat at the back...use two of the same.

The trailer wheels are the easiest.  The model car aftermarket offers lots of wheels and tires.

Painting scratch projects is the same as painting kits.

If you do not want to start an account with a web sharing site, does your ISP provide you storage space for your own web site (most do)?

Pontoon Boat Model

Hello, Second post on finescale.

I am building an HO scale Pontoon Boat Diorama and i would like to know about how to go about the rest of it.

This is the truck I have ordered to be 'towing' the boat down the launch

What I still need to do is as follows

~Carve seats and paint them--I already have the paint

~Ground work on diorama

~Wheels for trailer

~all painting

This is my first major scratchbuilding project.

If I have posted in the wrong area, Please notify me.  I am new to this

How can I post images without a web sharing account? Is it possible to post images of WIPs on finescale?

Thank you

James
