I thought there were great scratchbuilt planes at Nats (even if mine didn't win anything). Loving civil aircraft, I thought the Champion and the Ryan were particularly nice. Shows that the art of scratch building is alive and well.
The champ boosted my desire to build one. I have scale drawings available- now to pick a scale and get to work. So far I have been unable to find any decent photos of a factory interior, but talking to the guy who build the one at the Nats, I think I'll use his interior color scheme.

Here are the planes I really liked in the scratchbuilt aircraft category;
Ryan STA
Aeronca Champion
Both outstanding models.
Love that Ryan! Thanks for sharing the pics.
