Was there ever a kit of the BOMARC in any scale?

Wouldn't take much for someone to either cobble together a cockpit, or even take one out of a kit of something else, to get the ball rolling.

And if the scale is big enough, one could have a pilot in it with a horrified expression on  his face(about the impending launch, perhaps?).

This could even extend to, if anyone had enough room, to a diorama, complete with launch aircraft(or even launch gantries, ala the Bachem Natter).

O, the possibilities could be endless, and it always helps to be possessed of a warped and perverted sense of humor.

Both Aurora and Revell made kits of the BOMARC in the late '50s.  The Aurora version was 1/48th scale and the Revell was 1/47th.  There is in current production a large flying model of the  BOMARC.  I don't know what the scale is but the fuselage is 45.25 inches long.

With about three clicks of a mouse I found this.  Brace yourself!  On 6/9/2008 an Aurora 1/48th BOMARC sold for $210.39.  On 7/12/2008 the Revell version sold for $124.50 + $8.25 for shipping and handling.

This tells me these kits are very rare, highly collectable, and, ridiculously expensive considering both sold for around $1.50 when they were released...

If you really want to do a BOMARC, go for the giant one...It's a semi-scale kit that's right at 1/12th scale for $99.95

No, not being a collector, I'd want a kit I'd be willing to build, not keep for a future investment.

I did a bit of digging, and found out that back in 78, Estes had a 1/24 scale version of the BOMARC.

Now I'm curious to see if it might be economically available.

BTW, who makes that monster kit(1/12 scale)?

The next step is to look into a launch gantry of some kind, one that'd accomodate someone climbing up and getting strapped in.

IIRC there were at least two 1/12th cockpit kits.  An F-104 and, an F-16...

It IS getting interesting now...
