1/72 Land Rover - Santana...
Posted by Brizio on Monday, January 21, 2013 12:00 PM

I had this kit from quite a while, I received it so without instructions, and after searching a little bit I think it came out from a old Airfix "Bristol Bloodhound", the kit has also a missile on a trailer, but I have only the Land Rover.

I like only Jeep, so I will not build this as land Rover, but I will build the Spanish made one, called Santana Ligero 88. That was made in Spain from Santana Motors.

Here the kit...

I start to cut the right side.

The plastic is way to thick in 1/72 scale, so I decide to scratch build all the body and the rest. So at tleast is less thicker.

The comparision between the two right side, "old" on the left, and new on the right...

And here the chassis, it is long almost 2 inches.

I sand paper the tires for removing the mold sings, and the result was a slick tire...:( So I decided to engrave all the tread.

on the right the tire after sand paper, and left the one with tread.

One tire done... 4 more to go!!! :D

Here the body...

And here the engine, that is smaller than a lady bug! :D

Here a test fit between body and chassis, and I reshaped the front grille, adding the grille.

I was thinking... Instead make the stock Santana, like the one in the picture above, that it is pretty ugly, to make the one in the picture below, with a 106 mm rifle... :)

Little progress. The interior is almost done now, add seats, steering wheel, and the side rails on the back.
