Here is a fun project I did a couple of years ago. Its modeled in 3/8"=1'0 . It is based on some photos that were taken in Vietnam.

I used the bristles from a kitchen corn broom to make the bamboo roof over the hoist motors
I made a ballast box and used rocks I found out in the driveway.
The crane boom is all scratch built
The burlap sacks on the pallet are SKOAL smokeless tobacco pouches soaked in MIN WAX stain
