Dude this is frikin awsome!! I'm a rocket gantry guy and this is so cool with all the open fret work. Nice wiring details also. Thanks for sharing.

This project used a Lionel Power Shovel as a basis for the model. The only thing I kept was the body(also known as the house) and the machinery deck. The boom came from another Lionel kit. The drive chains came from McMaster-Carr. The track wheels were made from heavily modified wheels from a 1985 Pontiac car kit. Everything else was scratch built. The days of fixed leads pile drivers are fading fast. Most companies now use hydraulic vibratory hammers for pile work. I have always liked the rugged look of the fixed leads.

Hope you enjoyed. It was a real challenge.

It's really sad when the only model tool you own is a box cutter.
