thank you so much, i love all the ideas. I have seen the first post, but the second and third is pretty cool.

In the end, doing mass production of a lot of planes, its probably best to see if one can make molds of the cockpits if you can manage to get one good looking one going, and try replicate it also. Never done molding before tho, but will probably get the hang of things after a few tries. Thank you so such again. ^^)

There are a couple ways to do canopies from what I've seen online.  Here are two examples I've seen. Kelly Quirk calls for using squadron thermoform, but I've heard of guys using the semi-stiff clear plastic from the trumpeter 1/350 aircraft packages and a candle.

You can tint them in the normal ways.

I am actually considering attempting to use some iridescent confetti or "tissue" paper (used for gift bags) and hitting it with either some tinted future or clear red or what not to get the desired colors (see the third link), I plan to try this for the gold-tinted canopies on the prowlers in my airwing when I get around to my 1/350 Truman.  I have not tried this method, but I think it'll work.

If you're really a masochist, I've heard of people using small pieces of round styrene and little tiny bits of flat brass sheet (just like photo-etch but one flat sheet, not cut out) for the fins on the ordnance.

Good luck, hope this helps!

Hi guys. I want to know, been surfing the net and am looking for some way to spice up these planes. I know you can get the PE set, but how can one make these canopies from scratch so that it actually look like jet canopies and not just solid boring objects. Any ideas would be really appreciated. I even thought of maybe use a piece of transparent copy paper (plastic) and stretch it over the form, heat it and hopefully it might retail its form sort of. Not sure if that might be a possibiliy
