Searching for web-sites for Upgrading "Trek Toy's"
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 6:59 PM
Hi everyone, I'm hopeing someone can let me know of some other websites that deal with either converting PlayMates Star Trek Toys especially the ST-TNG TriCorder into something more realistic or even a site that addresses scratchbuilding. If anyone bought the "Art Asylum" Original phaser this year, there is a great article at bazzarr@aol.com that takes the original toy & increases the range of sounds & the brightness of the light incredably! It really is a must see. It touches base with the original prop designers and lets you know how to use the existing PC board in the toy to use the new 18,000mcd red LEDs that are available & will make the light a steady sourse instead of the kind of cheesy blinking it does now but the bg difference is in the sound quality. You really must hear this to believe the difference. The "Self Destruct" was originally a short climb in pitch with a hoaky explosion. With the upgrade, it sounds almost exactly like the real thing. There are two ways of doing the upgrade. An easy one for those without a lot of practice and a second level that will turn your "toy" into a believable stage prop! My nake is Eddie and any websites you all would care to share would be appreciated. Please send the info to stargaze@pulsenet.com  Good luck with the phasers! I know your gonna love them when your done!
