Revell Boeing 737NG CFM nacelle fix
Posted by oldhooker on Sunday, November 25, 2007 9:07 PM

Hi guys,

I illustrated how I fixed the engine "cowlings" on the 1/144 Revell 737NG (but applicable to the other 737 series), which are too flat on the lower front nacelle rims... which makes the bottom angle wrong when looking at it in profile. The bottoms of the nacelle are almost parallel with the bottom of the fuselage.... this will fix that. Included is how I modified the Rim to mate properly with the new nacelle.

The next time, I'm going to make a thermoformed "insert" to replicate the inner engine walls and fan (which would serve two good purposes: 1. It would allow you to bring the fan forward inside because the kit placement is too far back, 2. ... if clear sheet is used to do the thermoform, the trimmed up result will look like a little drinking glass... which means, the clear circle at the end can be made to resemble a "spinning" fan! Tongue [:P]   Which could make a sweet display!

Maybe someone can find it useful. :D

Take care,
Frank

You've performed some real work to get the right look on those 737 Nacells.  I've always thought that modern 737's have such funny looking pods hanging from under their wings.  I have no plans on building a 737 any time soon, but I'll keep your advice in mind.  Someday I may want to build a CFM56-7B in miniature.  I did just want to complement you in getting the look right.  It has unique contours and must have been a challenge.  I'm a real fan of the aircraft and the engine.
