Recent and current builds
Posted by jeaton01 on Monday, November 9, 2009 5:28 PM

I was in a General Aviation GB about 2 years ago here, and have built a few old type airliner kits recently.  Right now I'm building a Turner Special in 1/32 scale for the Racer GB (Lindberg kit, liberal spares box, and plastic card) on now, but I would think it fits here.

Here are a few pictures of the airliners, and the engine/cowl and interior for the Turner Special, which is all that is done now.

Revell 1/72 F.13

Testors R3C2  My geandaughter Yasemin helped with this one, it's her "ski-plane".

Amodel 1/72 Yakovlev UT-1

AMT 1/48 Beech Staggerwing

John,

Ever since seeing that G38, I wondered what it must have been like to be looking out of the wing's leading edge as it cruised by the Bavarian Alps!       And there's that beautiful Staggerwing!

Look forward to seeing Roscoe's plane back in the air also!

    Thanks, Smile [:)]

The pics and subjects are all great The Staggerwing is a 10. Sure would like to see a new tooling in 1/48 of that beautiful classic old bird.

Thanks, Dennis and Frank.  Yeah, Frank, that G38 is right out of the Hardy Boys stories even if they were later.  Next time I do a corrugated finish I hope I can figure out a rub on type lettering.  It's so hard to get decals on without silvering, and masking and painting them is difficult also.  I wish there were some new kits of the old airplanes, one can always hope for a sea change now that the only new military stuff is F-22's and drones.
