Excellent Forum Group!!
Posted by rodc on Sunday, November 22, 2009 10:36 AM

To those individuals who managed to get this Forum Group activated - my congratulations.  It was certainly needed and something I had hoped to see put in place.

Although I build a lot of military stuff, I have a bit of a soft spot in my heart for the non-military subjects.  I actually try to build civilian aircraft that are common to my location (Newfoundland Canada) and that I may have flown in, or been assisted by, during my years as a field geologist.

I recently completed a build of an Eastern Provincial Airlines 737-200 which for many years serviced the Atlantic Canada region but is now defunt.

Pics and some history can be viewed at my older post:

Once again congrats..........hopefully once I finish my space shuttle, I can start a nice Revell Twin Otter on floats for eventual posting here!

Ditto Rod; this section was definately needed, and very welcomed!

I'm sorry I missed your beautiful Eastern Provincial Airlines 737-200 build; non military subjects are soon swept away in the other section, which makes the Airliners and Civil Aircraft area all the more welcomed!

Take care,

Frank

Gentleman,

Finally a group of Airliners which is most welcome. I wonder way it took so long to start this group. The overwhelming groups of militairy subjects is all over the world the same. If you look at many different IPMS site's you find sometimes a Airliners SIG (Special Interrest Group), but most of the time non at all. The Dutch SIG Airliners celebrate there 10 years excistence last year, and just three weeks ago the IPMS put the light on the group to bring it on there front page from the IPMS site. There are many Decalmakers who are specialised in Airliners, Drawdecal, Flying colors, Twosix decal, F-Decal, Braz decals, Naz decals and many, many more. By saying this, it's a shame that almost nobody delivers any building report from Airliners to FSM. There is a way of improvement. So ask yourself can I do something to improve this situation. All reports are welcome to FineScale Modeler.Smile [:)]

Happy modeling

I too was glad to find this forum recently.  I made a resolution to build only civil during next year.  The last two contests I went to had no category for civil aircraft!  One guy had  to enter all his civil monoplanes in miscellaneous models category.  Fortunately, I had a biplane and they did have a category for biplanes- all scales.

I told contest directors that next year I would be entering only civil aircraft and hoped they'd have civil category by then.
