This month is the 100 Anniversary of Art Hartman's flight. He was the first Iowan to fly an airplane in the state. Art built the plane just from after seeing pictures of a Bleriot.
Frame work from .030 X .030 styrene strip. Rigging is 2# test fishing line. Engine came from parts of an 'O' gauge air compressor. Prop is a re-worked from a Piper Cub. Wicker seat made from brass mesh. PE spoked wheel from Tom;s Model Works.

Wow that is awesome. How did you keep the angles of the frame consistant? Thx for sharing!
Yeah, a very nice model indeed! Makes me think about what kinda man mister Hartman must have been to pull this one off.
Thanks for sharing, have a nice day

5X magnifying lense, good ruler and a I guess a good eye. I'd have never been able to pull it off without the magnifying, my 52 year old eyes are NOT what they used to be.
Here's a couple of links for a VERY intersting fellow, Art Hartman.
Hmmm- my first post didn't work. Here goes again!
Love it!! I really like planes from this period and that is a fantastic job.
Particularly like your job on the wheels. I don't get results looking anywhere that nice using Tom's. They look okay but not that nice.
