Having just finished a pair of WW II German fighters, I decided to go through my stash and start something a bit different. I uncovered an antique 1/100th scale Doyusha Virgin Islands International Airways DC-3 with a quite colorful motif a friend gave me years ago. I normally build up military aircraft, but decided to give it a go for a change of pace and popped it open. Its a very basic kit, but the fit isn't bad and looks like it could work up to something presentable. While doing an inventory of parts I uncovered bits and pieces for skis to allow the DC-3 to land on snow. (Evidently Doyusha had an earlier release of a DC which utilized the skis.) That little light bulb went off over my warped mind and I've decided to build up this V.I. International Airways DC-3 with the skis and pose it on a diorama of a snow covered ruway at Nome, Alaska. It should be cute "What if..." subject.
