Southwest Airlines 717
Posted by B17Pilot on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 8:42 AM

The other day it was announced that SWA is buying AirTran.  SWA is an all Boeing 737 fleet and AirTran, while thay have 737s, they also have a lot of 717.  According to SWA, they are going to keep the 717s.  Got to thinking how cool would it be to see a 717 in Southwest colors?

Then how soon will a decal set follow?

I dunno.. Were there any sets for the short lived American Airlines 717s?

No matter what the WN management says. I don't see the 717s lasting 5 years in Southwest's very successful business model.

Excuse me.. Is that an Uzi?

17's are nice aircraft, based on the legendary DC-9 series. The problem is they're outdated. My dad used to fly those for Midwest Airlines, before They got merged with Republic and Frontier. Now he's an instructor for EA-190's and EA-170's. The 717 is a nice looking airplane though, I think they'll look good in SW livery.
