B307 engine installations
Posted by Don Stauffer on Sunday, October 24, 2010 10:53 AM

I am going to be starting soon on the 1:144 Boeing 307, using a B-17 kit for the wings and horizontal tail.  I notice pictures of the PAA bird agree with the 3-views I have for the nacelle and engine installations, especially the exhausts, while the picture I have of the TWA has completely different exhaust locations.  Did these two planes really have that different an engine installation?  Or were they even different engines?

From Wiki;

307 had GR-1820-G102's fitted with single speed s/chargers,

307B had GR-1820-G105's fitted with twin speed s/chargers.

TWA's 307 were sold to the Army & returned to TWA in 1944, when they were rebuilt by Boeing with wings & tail from the B-17G & refitted with GR-1820-G606 engines & designated 307B-1 - these were later sold to France.
