Working on a Revell 1/144 747-400 DELTA.

Ok, before I post pics of my progress. I need to know the color to use for the blue? The decal sheet is a dark, navy blue. But want to know what you guys think?

The build itself is an old kit that I had originally used for a Boeing 747-8I project, but decided to pull apart and make it into a regular 747-400 in DELTA markings..

Currently, I have the fuselage back together, and the wings assembled, and am in the process of puttying everything in order to get ready for sanding and re-scribing...

But need to know about the blue....

Pics to come...

I believe insigna blue would be about spot on for the widget through interm, but it might be a tad dark for the circumcised widget.  Im not a Delta expert though.  If it were me Id use Tamiya Ts 15 if I was using a spray bomb or Id lighten insignia blue a tad if airbrushing.

After looking at pics on A.net XtraColor 322 British Airways blue would  seem to be a good match.  Honestly, airline liveries always seem to change color.  Lighting as well as age plays a big part as to how they appear.  Build it and have fun!  Dont stress over the exact match.

Thanks mate.. My airbrush is out of commision, so will have to go with the spray bomb..

It's the new livery on the old NW 747-400's

Ok, was finally able to get some pics taken, and show where I am at...

This is a mismatch of parts and looks like it thus far.. Nothing putty and sanding can't fix right?

Looking good.  Putty and sanding will shape it right up.

Yeah, but a lot of re-scribing....

Anyways, it is on hold until the week end, as I let the putty dry!

Good job so far.  I am going to eventually do the same Delta 747 (slowly working on all the Boeing 7X7 series).  I was going to use Model Master Blue Angel Blue for the blue.

Hi, well, I actually found a hybrid in my local hardware store that comes out to the same shade and hue, and I will be going with that.. As it is Japanese, there is no point saying what brand, as I know you guys won't have it there. But it will match very nicely..

I have just booked my flight with my daughter back to Australia for the Holidays, so we will be flying China Airlines through Taiwan from Fukuoka on an A330, and then again to Sydney.. And then we have to connect on Virgin Blue back up to Brisbane... Thankfully we will fly directly out of Brisbane on the way home..

So now I have just pulled out of the stash an old A330 build that I started years ago that I will do all by hand for the China Airlines livery.. And I have the decals for the Revell 737-700 with winglets that I will build also for the Virgin Blue bird.. So my Delta build may be put on hold...
