Great Lakes B1900?
Posted by 7474 on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 10:19 AM

I'm a new hire First Officer at Great Lakes Airlines, start training on August 1st. I'm saying Sayonara to flight instructing for my first Airline flying job. I was wondering if someone makes a model of the Beech 1900D (Lakes has the -D model) and decals for Great Lakes. Thanks, and I'm really excited to finally have a real flying job.

No idea on the 1900, but heartiest congratulations on the new gig! At least you'll be able to get all those close-up detail shots, for when you find a kit.

Can't help you with the model, but congrats on the flying gig! Great Lakes recieved one of my 300 or so resumes. The only company I heard back from was United. "Sorry, we're not hiring at this time", not that I stood a chance there anyway!

I asked my IPMS club members, and came up with one, but it's a -C model, and not sure what to do to convert it. I don't think I'd have the time to build any more anyways, I'm going to be busy for the next 6 foreseeable months. Fermis, if you want to chat about flying jobs, let me know. I have a lot of buddies that went to different companies that can give me a scoop. My dad is going through upgrade training to Captain at his cargo company on the 747. If you're a pilot and want to do this sorta thing, let me know.

As others have said, congrats on the new ride!  That's what a friend of mine did several years ago.  He got his license and started flight instructing to get his hours.  He's now a senior captain for B-747s for Northwest (I think it's NW).  I think his current route is Dallas to Japan a couple of times a month.

That's fantastic!  If I could fly for a living, I would prefer this type of plane and the routes it covers.  I guess flight simulator will have to suffice.

I will check around for the model and decals.

Liberty has a 1900D kit:

As for decals for Great Lakes, I don't think there are any.
