Missing Hasegawa B-17F 'Nose Art' 1/72 cockpit/bombardier compartment parts
Posted by 8thAAF_Builder on Monday, August 15, 2011 4:01 AM

Hello all,  I found my old B-17F 'Nose Art' from Hasegawa in 1/72 stashed in the attic. However im missing all the cockpit/bombardier room parts, if anyone happens to have these parts (say unusable because of aftermarket cockpit parts purchase) I'd be very happy to have them for a fair compensation. I think Academy B-17 cockpit parts should be ok too with little work.

Also I wonder if the Legend 1/72 B-17F Detailing/Interior set provides all the door and floor parts as well which im missing at the moment, since purchasing that set would be a solution as well?Actually this set is for the Academy kit but I guess it should fir the Hasegawa one as well. Can anyone familiar with this aftermarket set confirm this?

Best regards, I.K.

Not sure about the legend set, but there is also a CMK resin set, but again this is for the Academy kit. But you shouldn't have a problem fitting these to Hasegawa. Which doors do you mean. I am currently building the Academy 17F and useing alot of Eduard PE and these include all 3 external doors. Unfortunatly the only left over kit parts are the pilot and co pilot seats.

Thx for the quick reply bish. I meant the bombardier room and cockpit floor parts and the door to cockpit as in this photo: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/844/b17fj.jpg/ , these serve ofcourse as the basis for the cockpit & bombardier room compartment, ofcourse one can build them from scratch but I would try a more easier way :) I just wondered if those parts are included in the Legend set or are they from the basic kit..

Right, with you now. My guess would be that if this is a resin set, it would have everything. Generally, with the resin pits i have used, they replace the lot. This image of the CMK set shows which parts should be included, and i would guess the legend set is the same.

Is that iamage you showed the legend set, as that looks very nice, and the bomb bay looks alot better thatn the Eduard one i have been doing.

Ok, just found their site, and i can see that that image is the set you mean. If thats everything thats in the set, which it should be, then i would say no, the parts you need are not included, as thats a PE set and not resin. My advice would be to go for a resin set, unless you can find someone that has used a resin set and has the spare parts. PE sets won't give you what you need.

Thank you Bish for your trouble. I guess I should go with the CMK set or just try and find someone who has the leftover parts (a longshot).

No problem. To be honest, i wish i had gone for the CMK set as it looks alot better than the PE. But i went for the Eduard Big Ed set.
