Many thanks, guys.  I do remember now some comments that the ad was depicting some other DH product.  Guess I'd better find another airline. I have just a few moments ago found artwork depicting a Rapide in British European Airways livery, so that is a possibility.

From what I can make out, the DH.89 Rapide was used in filming as a substitute for the DH.86 Express (as used by Imperial Airways), I'm not sure if any DH.86's still exist. The DH.9 featured in the advert was also a DH.51 in reality.

Don,

Here's a couple of links that may be helpful.

The Rapide is a beautiful airplane.

Rapide in Imperial service

I am starting the Airfix DeHavilland Rapide kit.  There is a current TV commercial for BA showing a Rapide in Imperial Airways markings.  Did IA ever really use the Rapide, and was the livery shown the actual one?  I would love to paint/decal the kit as an Imperial Airways plane.
