Built this OOB and painted by brush with Citadel Mithrel Silver from Games Workshop...my favorite acrylic paint.  If you can keep it smooth it really shines once you coat it with Future but kind of hard to see from i phone pics.  Hope you enjoy.  Chris

Nicely done.  You can't have too many DC3 pictures.  Thanks for posting.

That is very cool.  And really well done.  One of those "looks bigger than it is' builds.

She looks great Chris and you did a stellar on the finish. I've built that kit a couple of times in military schemes but not as an airliner yet. Do you model much in smaller scales?

Thanks for the comments guys.

Douglas, you refering to smaller than 1/144?  This is as small as I go, the rest I can't see.  I used to build 1/48 but I ran out of space and donated several built kits to clear space.  I can put a bunch of small 1/144 stuff in the same space even with some airline builds.  Still small, but not to small.  Some subject I'd like to see that aren't in this scale though and I like that there are some props along with jets and airliners.

Very nice!

I recently picked up Minicraft's 1/144 PBY and to be honest I've been a bit nervous about how well it'd hold up against my 1/48 and 1/32 builds...but seeing your result with the DC-3 buoys me quite a bit. If I didn't know the scale I'd insist that was at least 1/72.

Excellent job!

On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2

On Deck:  1/350 HMS Dreadnought

Thanks Doogs.  I did the PBY earlier this year and felt it came out pretty good.  The landing gear was a little tricky but not too bad.  It will need some serious weight up front though, big time tail sitter.  I've seen your builds so I doubt  you'll have any problems.  Here is the link to my PBY.  /forums/t/136872.aspx

Nice job! I'm not actually worried about the landing gear, since I'm planning a water dio (need to practice before taking on my 1/350 USS North Carolina!), but I'll take the tail-sitting into consideration with mounting the Cat.

Here's roughly what I'm going for:

On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2

On Deck:  1/350 HMS Dreadnought

Hi Chris...I was referring to 1/144 scale in particular.Though I build in several scales,1/144 tends to be my favorite due to space considerations. What are some of the subjects you'd like to see in this scale?

Cheers,Douglas

"Citadel Mithrel Silver " ... you had mentioned that "gamers" paint before, so the last time I was in my local hobby shop I looked, and lo and behold, she does stock that brand!

At some point I am going to tackle the awful Williams Bros. kit of Amelia Earhart's Lockheed Electra, which is all NMF, and I had been dreading using the spray can Pactra aluminum, but this brush on acrylic might just do it. I don't own an airbrush and, quite frankly, ever expect to. No place to put one, except out on the exposed back porch!

You might want to make some practice runs on a junk kit.  It is thicker than other paints, like Model Master that I usually use, but it will lay down smooth.  If it starts to dry but looks like it could use another coat, wait for it to dry completely.  I paint in one direction for the whole kit then if I want to make a panel a different shade I just dampen a flat, drush and go perpindicular (did I spell that right?) to the first direction and it gives the look of a removeable panel.  With a little thinning I have used it in the air brush but I prefer to brush it by hand.  Looking forward to seeing the Electra painted.
