B727-200 and 767-200 Kits

If I am correct it just signifies "Boeing".  Your opposite of me, I have  727 in need of decals but I haven't found a scheme I like yet.

Guys,

Hope someone out there can help.  I have sets of old Air Canada decals to fit 1/144 scale B727-200 and a 767-200.  Does anyone know what the significance of the "B" is in the 727-200 recommended kit?  There are lots of Minicraft and Airfix 1/144 727-200 kits around but the decals states the preferred kit to be an Airfix or MPC B727-200.

Also, anyone know where I can scrounge up a 767-200 in 1/144?

Both the Airfix and Minicraft 727 have their problems. (MPC is the Airfix kit.) Very quickly, the nose of the Airfix kit is way too fat and needs extensive reshaping to look right. Also, the wing fence is incorrectly shown on the trailing rather than leading edge, so you'll need to cut it off and build another for the leading edge. Also the engine intake on the tail is shown with too much of a ridge running back so sand it off. These change will improve the Airfix kit.

MInicraft's kit is a lot newer but misses the mark in several places. The wingbox on the fuselage is mushy looking and lacks the right shape and the reverse thrust hinge fairings are missing from the engines.

To the best of my knowledge, no one has made a kit of the short 767-200 in 1/144 scale. Welsh Models makes a vacuum-formed fuselage to convert either the Revell or Zvezda kit. You can also cut down either -300 kit to make a -200 - remove 21.3mm (about 13/16 inch) ahead of the wing and 23.3mm (15/16 inch) aft.
