Latest Builds....Ansett 1/200 767 and 737
Posted by leemitcheltree on Friday, January 6, 2012 3:37 AM

Here are my latest builds - Both are 1/200 Hasegawa kits....767-200 and a 737-200.  The 737 decals are Hawkeye Models Australia - not my preferred type of decals (color photocopy), but they're very sharp and clear, and if you place them on white paint, they give excellent results.  The 767 decals were custom made to order by an outstanding artisan...thanks Col!!

Enjoy!

I really like your builds.  They look great!  I've always liked Ansett schemes.  I used to do a lot of flying on TAA and MAL when I lived in New Guinea.  Thanks for posting.

Lee,

Those look terrific. The scheme on the 737 was one of my favorite Ansett liveries. (Never got used to the last one with the big A on the tail.) Nice clean builds. What did you use for the gloss white?

Cheers, Aaron

Thanks for the nice comments, guys.  I do appreciate them.

Sorry, Aaron...I didn't see your question until today....

For airliners, I always use rattle can automotive acrylic, decanted into the jar of my Paasche VLS.  In this instance, it was K&H Gloss White.

I know it's "hot", but I've never, ever had problems with the paint attacking the plastic.  I almost always use rattle can auto acrylic on my cars, too.  It dries very quickly, and dries very hard....polishes well, and is nearly bullet-proof.

It almost always works perfectly.....the way I see it, if it works, don't mess with it.

Thanks guys!

Cheers, LeeTree
