After doing the wheels on this monster you are ready to do tanks.  You have inspired me to try airliners again, however I will start much smaller.  A 320 or 737.  This one looks scary but I bet it is impressive.

Leonidas

Wow, that's a lot of wheels! Great updates. Where did you get the Pan Am decals?

Ray at TwoSix decals in the UK did a few sets for a guy over on the BritModeller.com forum and he hooked me up with a set.  TwoSix decals are pretty awesome so these should lay down real nice.

As for the build, I'm off to 3 weeks of military training goodness soon so she will be hangered for a while.  Back to it in July.

Okay now, 22 wheels???  Did the A380 designers not think of us modelers when they designed this plane?  My hands hurt, time to stop for the night.

For my windows I tape the outside and fill with putty from the inside.  Once the tape comes off the area is fairly smooth with a few minor pits to fill.  Sand it super smooth and ready to paint.  On the engine mount, I did a test fit and it looks like it will sit well with just a little filler at the wing leading edge.

That is Citadel you see.  My favorite metallic paints.  They brush on nice and airbrush good with a little thinning.  I like brushing them more because they show small streaks that give a weathered look if done in the direction of the wind stream.

Really glad you're posting a wip.  That is one BIG plane.  I was wondering what you use to fill the windows.  I also noticed citadel metalics in the background of the picture with the chopper.  Do you use them on your airliner builds?  I was also wondering if you have fit issues attaching the finished engines to the wing.  Sorry for all the questions but I really enjoy watching airliners go together.  Thanks.

Yep, same scale.  I wish they would bring an A380 to our next air show, I really want a close-up look.

Lookin' good kg4kpg. Is that 737 in the same scale? I knew that A380 was big, but not that big!

Got one engine done and the wings glued together.

Check out how big it is next to a 737.

Funny, when I did my Qantas A380, I broke the nose gear off in the same exact spot!  The bottom piece went flying, so I had to get another kit.  I quick copy of the nose gear and I was all set.  I was reattaching the newly cast lower part when I was like, hey lets turn this!  I like it turned:

This all happend after the decals where on and such, just before I was going to add the gear.  Of course, a week after I finished the bird, I found the broken piece.

Oh well, now I have another A380, thinking of doing it in the Lufthansa or possibly Korean Air livery.

Looking forward to your Pan Am version!

I'm doing this for a group build over on Britmodeller but thought I would post it hear as well so we can have some traffic in the airliner & civil forum.  I've always loved the white and blue Pan Am scheme and thanks to the folks at TwoSix Decals I have a custom set to throw on her.  Typical airline build, I taped the outside and filled the windows from the inside.  Makes it pretty smooth and just leaves a few small places to fill from the outside.  Sanding and smoothing is ongoing and thanks to my fumble fingers I snapped the nose gear stut.  Since it is nice and thick I was able to drill it out easy and I'll pin it later.  Revell needs to figure a way to add the gear in a later step.  One wing is together and being cleand up plus I've started on the engines.  The last pic with the engines has the Dragon Stealth Helicopter to establish the scale of these monsters.  I can't imagine standing inside an airline intake and not be able to touch the top.  I'm hoping to get the major parts assembled before June but then I have military stuff all of June and won't get back to it until July.  Now, enough of my boring rambling, lets see some pics.  ~Chris

What I'm going for.  Some very nice photo editing to put the scheme on a real plane.

Where I’m at so far.
