Thanks, Scorpiomonkey. Ask the guys up here, they have to lock the workshop door to get me to do anything but build!

Nice one Aaron Big Smile

I'm not sure if the Qantas birds have them yet, but the Virgin 737's have, or are being fitted with, a satellite TV antenna fairing hump on top of the fuselage approximately in-line with the trailing edge of the wing.

Thanks Phil!
All the pix I have of this aircraft  show it without the sat TV antenna, but it should have a second ADF antenna on the roof. I need to add that...
Cheers, Aaron

The FindScale Modeler Workshop!  One would think that would be interesting to see.

Nice job!

One small thing. Most -800's don't have eyebrow windows.

That's true for 737-800s built after 2004. They are being plugged on some earlier -800s. On VH-VXF, they were removed during between 2009 and 2010. This is the aircraft before that point. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.Geeked

Aaron,

Thats a good story! and is probably true. My Airline is removing them on the older 737's as they go through heavy maintenance checks.

Something about the model has been bothering me, Not your build that is great!

The engines seem wrong. I wonder if Revell cut corners by using the CFM engines from the A320?

The 737NG nacelle is round at the front but flairs out on the sides while the A320 nacelle is more rounded all the way back.

Anyway it sure is a purrdy 737.

Mach71,

The kit engines are definitely not those from the A320 kit. Reveil's 737-800 engines are a little too flat on the bottom, more like the -300 series engines. On this model, I replaced them with more accurately shaped resin 737NG engines from Contrail. The angle of the photo makes them look rounder than they are.

Here's a Minicraft 737-300 from a similar angle:

And for comparison, Revell's A320 straight from the box:

Thanks for the info! I had no idea you could buy aftermarket engines for the 737 kit.

Very cool!
