Revell airbus a320, a340
Posted by jamenator on Saturday, April 6, 2013 9:34 PM

Hello everyone, i would just like to share my 1:144 revell airbus models. The Lufthansa a320 was completed some time ago, but is currently missing its antenna due to some recent modifications, they will be re-attached in the near future.

The SAS A340 is recently completed, but took me over a year of on and off building to complete it. BTW I know the blue is a bit too dark on the a340 but its the best i could do using the tamiya rattle cans available.

My philosiphy is that its ok to sacrifice some quality for accuracy (maily shapes and profiles of the model), so I have made several large-ish modifications to the standard revell A340 kit to increase its accuracy (hence the long build time)... see if you can pick them out ;)

all criticisms welcome....   James :)

thanks very much guys :) Nah, i've never done an a380. But an A380-900 mod would be a nice model, although purely fictional at this stage.

thanks again...  James

I've got that same Lufthansa kit, I'm finding it a pain in the rear to say the least.

How did you cope?

i found it relitivly easy, only issues were the canopy during the building, and masking around the curvered part of the rear fusalage during the painting.

Now the a340 on the other hand, thanks to the heavily modified aftermarket nose, was a real pain to build

I picked up a Minicraft Boeng, I like the fit and assembly better then the Revell, but well the decals stink.  LOL  I plan to give the revell kit another shot though, I'm gonnapick up another one and either buy or make some Aer Lingus decals for it.  I'll give it another go with the lessons I learned form the Lufthansa kit.
