How can you tell if it's a mail plane? ( hint, three amigos)
That's a great cockpit pic! Man, how'd ya like to bang your forehead against those fasteners on that leather cowl padding? Yow!!

Here's a link to the cockpit of the actual aircraft in case you wish to dress it up:

MoellerDanI've decided to tackle this kit first out of the stash I inherited from my grandfather.

Boy, I missed that one. I've been around since the beginning of plastic kits and I don't remember it. Would sure like to find one of those somewhere. I have some great scale drawings of that plane, and would love to build one. Maybe I'll try ebay. Looks like not a lot of detail, but improving the kit must certainly be easier than scratchbuilding one.

Cool
Brass tubing sounds great! Cut/drill out the plastic nubs and replace with the brass! I'll have to remember that!
As far as the stash, I'm just breaking the tip of the iceberg! There are a few older Italeri that have never been opened, and several by a company I can't remember off the top of my head that have the instructions all in French! As long as I can make out the colors and the diagram I'll be ok!
Oh anything- piece of plastic tube, brass, search around the garage for something like a pen ink tube.
PS: heck of a stash. I have never seen that kit before (drool). $ 20 plus on eBay.
PPS: decals look great. You're lucky.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Use a brass tube!
