"Airbus" gray?
Posted by Don Stauffer on Saturday, August 8, 2015 9:46 AM

I am going to be starting soon on an A 320.  Significant areas need to be painted Airbus gray.  Can anyone recommend a decent match in Testors Enamels, either MM or square bottle?  What is the sheen on that?  Is it Gloss, semi, or matt?

I'm not sure about which color to use but I can tell you (as someone who used to fly A320s) that the wings and horizontal stabilizers tend to be very glossy.

The leading edges of the wings and engines were a dull aluminum color unlike the Boeings, which were usually a polished aluminum color...FYI.

Don, Airbus grey is very similar to Boeing grey, so you would be safe with FS16515 (Voodoo Grey)

Anyone have or provide link for picture of the early NWA version of the A320?  This is not the tennis shoe version but red NORTHWEST name on white fuselage band with blue window stripe.  Only shot I can find is of a model, under artificial light and it is hard to guage colors.  Looks like there are two shades of gray, one on fuselage and one on wings.

I am using the Revell 1:144 kit. Is the box art showing the gray that is referred too as Airbus Gray?  The two colors on the photo I have tend to be lighter and darker than that box art photograph.
