I got this kit yesterday and it looks good to me.  The instruction shaow control sticks, but the parts include control wheels, which is a good thing since no Navion ever had a stick.  Nice moldings, good shapes.  Closed and open canopies.

 I'm 99% sure the Navion 72 had control sticks.

Subaroo, I've flown and worked on L-17's and many civil Navions including the Rangemaster and can't remember any with sticks.  What's a Navion 72?

Thanks, Mike.  Didn't know such a thing ever existed.  The rudder pedal mechanism and most of the panel does not look anything like the normal Navions.  One oddity of the original L-17/205 Navion was the starter switch, which was like the old style car dimmer switch, foot operated, and not immediately visible under the instrument panel on the firewall.  Only one of the three L-17's I flew still had that setup, the others were key operated or a dash button, can't remember now.  But I usually flew the other two and when I first flew this one there was an "Uh Oh" moment when I got to that part of the startup procedure.  I sat there a few moments and then remembered the reference in the manual about the original starter switch.  The other 3 (non-pilot) guys in the airplane were probably starting to have a few doubts, but no one jumped out.  It was a nice flying airplane, not blistering fast with the 205 Continental but it was as fast as the 1953 Cessna 180 at home.  But on these Army flying club airplanes you soon learned not to raise the flaps if the gear was not finished cycling.  If you did, the internally leaky system would come to a stop.  Then you had to put the gear back down and stop the flap travel, and try again one at a time.  Those were the days, the rate was $10.50 per hour wet.

Great story, Jeaton01!  $10.50 per hour wet is completely laughable nowa days!  A gallon of AV gas at my field is $6 per gallon!        In reguards to the kit: it looks really nice.  Cant wait to see some build picsCool
