My biggest weakness building airliners is leveling the landing gear as I will inevitably end up with a plane that wobbles on it's gear. Is there a tried and true method (tutorial?) on how to properly level the landing gear? Thank you.
Ken
I'll fashion some sort of stand along the lines of three paint pots, one under each wing & one under the nose that raises the kit just enough so that the gear is almost touching the deck. Dry fit the gear to check for any alignment issues & then fit it with tube glue or something else slow drying.
Once the glue has initialy started to set (while it's still flexible), drop the kit on the stand & see how the alignment looks & tweak as required before the glue hardens.
If the gear is flimsy & won't sit in position, use some blu-tack to help hold it.

If one wing is slightly higher than the other, tell anyone looking at the model that you're a rivet counter, and that you're depicting the wing fuel loads as being slightly heavier on one side than the other.

I'm not sure what you are asking. Do you mean the gear are not strong enough, and so it wobbles when it sits? This depends on the kit- some mfgs make stronger gear than others.
Or, are you saying the gear are not all the appropriate length? Almost all aircraft have three gear, and even if it is not sitting level, it will not wobble. Do you mean the model does not sit level from side to side, or at the wrong angle longitudinally, compared to scale drawings?

I am currently working on a 1/144 Luthansa A380-800. The main landing gear outer sets of four wheels each is firmly planted on the table but the inner set of six wheels each don't touch at all.
Ah- the 380! Yes, I can see how that would be a bear! Lots of test fitting!
Sort of reminds me of an old joke. This actually happened. There was a big ceremony when MATS (or whatever it was at the time) took delivery on its first C-5. When it touched down at the base, a wheel came off. The General who was giving the main speech was asked about the wheel coming off, and non-plussed, said, "Gee, that's okay, it has nineteen more to do the job!"
I had the same problem with my E4-B I had to drill in both wing wheel bays and test fit untill both sets of fuselage wheels touched (before painting)

Hmmm, hope I don't have that problem when the time comes. I haven't attached my wings yet. We shall see.
