DC-3 props

Looking for a lead where I can find DC-3 props in 1/48 . Need the DC-3 Airliner props not the C-47,which were the paddell props. Thanks

Ah, yes, one of the many problems trying to pass off C-47 kits as DC-3s.  Yes, the planes were very similar, but there are differences.  We really do need to have a major manufacturer put out a good, real DC-3 kit.  That is such an iconic airliner, and deserves a good kit.  Same thing with Ford trimotor.

The Boeing 247, as good as it was, was overshadowed by the DC-3 and fell by the wayside as a contender. Too bad, fine airplane but the wrong size, at the wrong time. Still would like to have a good 1:48th model to represent it.

There is a reasonable 1:72 kit of the 247, from Williams Bros.

Many of us don't have room for many 1:48 airliners, so 1:72 and 1:144 are quite popular with some of us civil aircraft modelers.

No, as C-46's used Curtiss-Wright electric props with the long prop domes.  DC-3's used Hamilton-Standard props with the short prop domes.  As the AC-47 kit has a set of toothpick props along with the paddleblades, why not use them as I believe that is what people use for the Koster early B-17 (C/D/E) conversions.

I checked all my kits and found only one set of props. for the C-47. Even the one with the Eastern decals and box art.  I was sure someone made a set for the DC-3. Looks like I will be wearing out some sanding sticks cutting them down.

Look at image #5 for toothpick props.  These are included in the AC-47 kit which also contains the paddleblades.  Won't these work?

C-47 had what they call paddell props. Airliners had the smaller blade props.  Found what I was looking for. Ultracast at www.ultracast.ca There catalog show two items P/N 48240 and 48241 for airliner Props. Now all you have to do is choose between the P&W 1830 or the Wright 1820 Engine. Adjust the carb and oil cooler scoops for your engine model.
