Grumman Goose

The Signifer kit is worth considering, too.

It includes plastic, resin and (IIRC) PE. It looks like a really nice kit and from what I've seen is at least as good (if not better) than the CA kit. I got mine direct from the manufacturer on eBay.

I tried the Encore kit and had many problems.  Threw it out in mid-build.

I here ya, I had to make props from other kits along with just about everything else except the wings, fuse, and the resin engines.  Everything else was pretty much unusable. Even most of the resin parts were either too big, too small, or too poorly cast to use.  For the wheels, I stole them from a Accurate Minitures 1/48 TBM.  Very much like the old days of building vacuform kits.  But overall, I really enjoyed the build and learned a lot.  I would have given up but the support from members here on this forum that were in the Group Build kept me motivated with support and encouragement.

Hi Don, I built this kit for this years Floatplane Group Build, and for me, it was a very humbling experience.  I developed a love/hate relationship with the build.  I loved my subject but hated the kit. Detail is scarce, fit is horrible and there are no alignment pins.  I noted in the GB that my experience building vacu form kits came into play during this build.  Here is an in-process pic, and then one on how it turned out.  Overall, with skill and patience, it can turn into a really nice Goose.

I have one in almost the same state sitting on my workbench for a couple of years. I just haven't been motivated to finish it.  I need new props since the kit ones broke and I'm not happy with my repair.  It just keeps looking a me saying: "Ha, I beat you."   I have an old thread here with the build progress. Someday I hope to update it and beat this kit into submission.

I believe it's the Czech Models kit from the early 2000's---still a bit on the crude side compared to today's super-kits, but light-years away from the old Lindberg offering.

 

Ah, that sounds better.  Was not  aware of the CM kit, but I have always had good luck with their kits, so I guess I'll spring for the Goose!
