Looks great, but I think the gear is mounted backwards.

Wow, that is pretty!

(You're starting to give me distinctly non-military thoughts for my scary old Smer L-4....)

1/48 Piper Super Cub PA-18

Here is my Piper Super Cub PA-18.  It is the latest Minicraft release, which contains a fantastic large decal sheet containing 3 version of liveries and preassigned registration numbers—one from UK, one from Germany, and one generic US version.  In addition they include the entire alphabet and 1 thru 9 where you can create your own specific registration N-number.  It’s clear that Minicraft now owns the original molds created by Bandai in the 70s.  I have an original Bandai release of this kit and the parts and sprues are identical.  This is one of the old “Weekend Wings” Series that Bandai created, which is made up of all civilian/private aircraft in 1/48 scale.  In this series was also the Aero Subaru FA200, Beechcraft Bonanza, Cessna 150, Mooney 21, and Piper Cherokee for a total of 6 kits.  I have all 6 and will get them all built one of these days.  Curiously, they never released a Cessna 172.  That was done by Nichimo, also in Japan, in the 70s as well.  As of now, Minicraft has repackaged and released all of these except for the Subaru and Mooney for some odd reason. Note: the Bonanza release comes with both the straight tail and the classic V-tail option.  They also made a Cessna Skyhawk, which appears to be a 172, but this one is specific to the private plane from Germany that landed right outside the Kremlin.  Anyway, back to the Super Cub.  There are some fit problems here and there especially the clear parts.  In order to showcase all the interior detailing, I cut open the boarding door and window.  Inside I added seat belts, map pocket, fire extinguisher, Mike Grant gauge and dial decals, throttle handle.  I also cut open one side of the cowling to show the engine, which I wired and plumbed. I also added brake lines, and stretched sprue for the tail support rigging.  I can also recommend this one for a fun quick build.  Hope you enjoy the pics.
