A-Z Models, I believe, is a Czech outfit that makes some rather unique, outside the mainstream, models. I saw this by chance on Ebay and got it for a great price. Upon opening the box I was pleasantly surprised to see beautiful flash free parts on soft gray styrene sprues, a gorgeous decal sheet containing livery for 2 different stunt planes, a resin prop, and small PE fret. My delight soon dissipated when I began construction as the styrene is too soft and some of the locator pins are a couple millimeters off. What else is new right? The good news is I needed very little putty/filler as I prepped the parts well. The surface detail is pretty good. The PE cockpit parts really help make it come alive. Curiously, they didn’t include any seatbelts/harnesses. I robbed a set from other kit. It’s mostly OOB; however, I did add brake lines, pitot tube of piano wire, scratch-built the tail wheel complete with tension springs as the tail wheel part lacked any detail. Finally, I custom fabricated the wing tip attitude indicator from soldered brass wire. All the red and blue come from the decal sheet. I did have a heck of a time getting them to hug all the engine vent fins. A new scalpel making tiny incisions helped. I was satisfied with the build as I didn’t have any stunt/aerobatic planes in my collection. With encouragement from fellow IPMS members, I entered it in JaxCon and unbelievably it placed gold. Please enjoy the pictures and all comments are greatly appreciated.
