1/32 civilian pilots?

Here's a pic of the resin figure from Immense Miniatures.  I re-posed it to put it in a 1/32 Revell LS-8 sailplane.

It's the first figure I painted, so take that into consideration.  The molding is very realistic.

I received my order from Immense Miniatures yesterday.  The resin figures look great.  minimal cleanup needed and they look realistic.  The figures actually look like the drivers they are modeled after.  I'll have the only plane being flown by Graham Hill.  I would recommend them if you need civilian pilots.

 Although they aren't the best , I would try to find some Revell auto driver figures .They could be modified to fit those planes . Now , of course I am referring to the older figures . from the multi - piece body car kits .

Well, I finally found a promising source of 1/32 figures that could be modified into a civilian pilot with not much work involved.  Its Immense Miniatures.  They make driver figures for different scales of slot cars.  I ordered 'parts' for 4 figures for under $30.  Can't beat that price. Detail looks much better than the overpriced and toy-like Preiser figures.

For the heck of it, I went ahead a printed one of the free 3D pilot models I found on the Thingiverse site, mostly just to see what the capabilities of my printer is.  Below is a picture of it.  At the time I had black colored filament in my printer and it was kind of hard to make out the detail.  So I gave it a coat of Mr Dissolved Putty and White Mr Primer.  The detail isn't great, but it is also not too bad either and with a little cleaning, and touch up it might not be too bad a representation of a pilot.

Since I only printed it out for practice, I don't really need it, so if it would be of any use to you, just shoot me a PM, and I can drop it in the mail to you this weekend.

Do a search for "1/32 driver figure". There are quite a few.

I'd swap the head for a cool cat in shades with a bare head, thats easy.

I am currently playing around with my 3D printer trying to print out some 1/16 scale people right now, for a project I am working on.

In looking around on the internet I have found a couple free 3D scale civil pilot models at a site called Thingiverse.

If you want, I can try and print out one of them for you once I finish my current print job, if they look suitable for your needs.

My printer isn't a high end one, and you might need yo do a little work on the finished product, but it might at least get you to a good starting point.

Here is an example 1/20 scale figure I printed a while ago (on top) and a 1/16 scale figure that I just printed but haven't had a chance to clean up yet (on the bottom) to give you an idea of what the output might look like.

True.  I was not aware of 1:32 vintage sailplane kits (only one I knew of was the Revell kit).  What is available?

You could try :

 1/32 Military figures . I have seen some in just Jump-suits with soft headgear . You would have to modify them though . In response to Don's comment about sitting position . My Sweitzer Sail plane had me in a sitting position like sitting on a sundeck chaise lounge ! T.B

Even if you could find civil pilots in a sitting position, most would be a bit too upright for a modern sailplane, most of which seem to have semi-reclining seats.  You might be able to take some military standing figures and do a lot of chopping and modifying.
