Annother airliner kit we need.

While I have often suggested a good 1:72 Ford Trimotor and a 1:72 real DC-3 (not a converted C-47) for threads that ask what new kits we need, another that I would like to see is a Fokker tri-motor, either an F-VII or an F-10.  These were what US airlines used prior to the Ford.  I want one from a major mfg, not an Eastern European kit nor resin.

I agree. The old Frog F VII is a nice model but long OOP. I'd add a new 247 to the list.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

If I were brave I'd try to build the old Monogram 1/77th scale ford tri-motor again.  I tried and failed about ten years ago.  The wings of the sample I had were terribly warped and the corrugation at the wing leading edge didn't align well.

I wonder if I just got a bad kit or anyone's had better luck with it?

I don't thing the engines on that kit are that great, so I would like to use resin engines, but the difference in scale does not look right.  It is a fine kit if you use the kite engines.  Could use a bit sharper molding on small detail, though.  At least the struts hold the nacelles in the right position, which the Airfix kit does not.

Williams Bros is back in business, and repopping a few of their old kits.  I think we do all need to contact them to urge repop of the 247. It was not bad for a WB kit.
