Has there been info from the group on figuring out the plan symbols for this kit.
I'm about to start it and want to lower the flaps but plan is in hieroglyphics!

I've heard that the Thunderbirds version has much better instructions.

I had a terrible time interpreting those symbols! I studied the instructions for hours. Part of the problem is their jumping around, so it is hard to figure out which option the instructions are moving through.
I guess the idea of those icons is that they don't need to have all the instructions have multi-lingual texts. The art work is not great either- one has a hard time figuring out where the arrows are pointing.
The kit is generally fine- except for the instructions. If you have questions on an individual step, maybe I have figured out what is going on there. I have put mine aside for awhile while I work on an Apollo model for the anniversery.

Thanks guys for the offer to help and for the the clearer C-54 instructions! This will definately make the build easier now! i knew the ship had fowler flaps but the kit was so confusing--clearer now!
Don I may be calling on you to bail me out on some of this!

Your comments and questions are always welcome.
I've learned over time that there's seldom a work around for that.
Modifying the mounting so that it can be installed last usually adds structural weakness, where it will eventually break while on display.
I try to be extra careful with it.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Looking at the cartoon pages, yeah they try so hard to have everyone understand that I doubt anyone can.
Without actually building it, the ? Seems to have to do with flaps up/down.

Indeed. The question mark indicates an option. There are a lot of options wit this kit.
Looking at the plans and kit for the DC-4 --(Thunderbird plan), I am wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to scratch build a main spar to keep that long flexible wing straight----
