Don, you want AmarilloUSAFPro from TLai Enterprises.  It is exactly according to the templates we used to use to lay out the numbers in those days.

This is all I could find as a quick read.

Roman (basically italic is not allowed), non ornamental, highest contrast with background.

We have a term in the business for the "type ***"; I doubt they'll hunt you down.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Civil Reg # fonts?

Anyone know what the fonts were for US civil aircraft registration markings in mid-20th century?  As I remember it, FAA used to be pretty strict about those numbers.

I intend to do some homemade decals for a couple of upcoming builts (DC-3 and Convair twin).  I suppose I have enough decal sheets from kits that I could store NC and numbers as image files and make my own font images, but it would be a lot easier to just have the fonts available to type out.
