Just realized I have an older boxing of this kit in the stash.  Doing a hooters livery on mine.  

Looking good.  I like to finish with a coat of future.   I have that 787 as well.  We should build it together.   Let me know when you start. This one is coming along nicely.  You picked a bit of a bear of a kit for your first airliner. Is recommend a something from hasegawas 1/200 line.  

After a nice gloss coat of black primer, I laid down the aircraft aluminum using Vallejo Metal Color. After an obscene amount of masking, I laid down the light gray. Next will be more masking then I'll paint the upper fuselage and seal everything with a nice gloss.

Good evening my friends. Slow progress on this one. There is a ton of filler and wet sanding. So at this point I have removed all of the raised panel lines from all surfaces. Filled in the gap's with a combination of Milliput, squadron green putty, then a final smooth coat of squadron green putty. The glass up front has been contoured and sanded so it should actually look like flat panels of cockpit glass.  This is an early mould from Airfix and it definitely shows. But the overall look of the aircraft is very nice.  I will lightly scribe some panel lines in the primer coat prior to painting.

I'll be watching this . I like 737's most of those kits are on back order but I'll be on the look out for one..

Cool!  Look at those sleek sexy engines.  Huge difference from the wide mouth flat bottom of today.  That's the right way to go with the glass, in fact I fill all the windows and use window decals. I have to check my stash, I may have one of these.

Yes, I think that might be a good move, going from the photo of the pointy end!  I've never built an airliner, the large areas of smooth white gloss have always been a bit intimidating

 

Thanks Jon.  I hope to learn something from this one.  I bought the Zvezda 747-800 but it was too intimidating to start on!

Looks like fun! Airliners are fun to model in my opinion. They're not complicated to build, but they are challenging to paint and finish. Be patient and be willing to wet sand. It will look great.
