Hi
I building a 1/48 model DC-3 with Pacific Western Airlines colors circa 1960s. Would anyone be able to help me with silver, white and red paint suggestions? I'll likely use Mr Hobby Surfacer 1000, and for silver I'm thinking Mr Color Rough Silver GX208 for a base and Mr Hobby Super Metallic SM201 for a finish, with a Mr Color Super Clear III GX100 for a clear coat. No idea about the white or red though.

I'd use Alclad aluminum for the natural aluminum. Any white or black would work. Not sure on red.

I'm with Don on the Alclad. The tail looks more like international orange to me. This the tiny 1/200 Hasegawa kit in Alclad airframe aluminum
Thanks,
John
I have always liked this bird in Aluminum and the markings of either American( Red over Metal/ Blue trim stripes.) or Capitol (White Top to the window tops and Blue stripe at windows/ and silver everwhere else!
I think though that red will require a white basecoat to look right!
Leading Edge decals made a 1/72 set if you can find it. If you trust, you can pull matches.
I can't quite make out the cheat lines- they look like two black over red.
Johns right, or at least tomato red. Definitely has some yellow in it.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Thanks John
That is the look I'm going for, would you happen to know if that plane used the Clear Base (ALC303) or Gloss Black Base (ALC304)? And if it used a Klear Kote Gloss (ALC310) or Aqua Gloss Clear (ALC600) to apply the decals?
