Braniff 727-100, wings and stabs painting
Posted by sallamaa on Thursday, October 12, 2023 2:34 AM

Hi,

I'm currently modelling the Braniff Boeing 727-100 in their red Flying Colors livery. The 1/144 kit is from Authentic Airliners and the decals from F-DCAL.

I have been trying to find photos of their planes from up above in order to find the painting pattern of the wings and stabs, i.e. if there was coroguard and which areas were unpainted metal.

Could somebody help me in this matter?

Cheers,

seutula

I did a google image search for Braniff 727-100.  That found a couple of shots, and another search adding in-flight and saw a couple more.

An amazing photo on several levels.  All three appear to be pulled off to a maintenance stand.  All have flaps extended, from Flaps 10 to Flaps 40--even with the head-strike risk to the maintainers.  And, it's apparently Lunch Break, as despite having hundreds of thousands of dollars parked, ther edoes not seem to be a single soul around on the apron.

Now!

That's what I call a "Beeutiful Boidy ". I got to fly in one before the Crash that put me off commercial flights forever!' Whatta trip. The takeoff rotation was a blast! Came close for some to being the "Vomit Comet"! Surprised looks all up and down the seat rows! Most fun I had experienced outside the Cockpit! Hands down, the 727 IS one of my faves!
