I always use rattle cans for primer.  If I use the airbrush, without having a seperate bottle adapter, the white paint will get... changed even slightly, so I use spray cans.

Flat enamel.  Air brush if you have an airbrush; rattle can if you don't.

I've actually painted the figure you're talking about...twice. I didn't like the paint job the first time around, so I stripped it and repainted it. Big Smile [:D]

I glued the head, the body halves and the left arm together, and left everything else loose until I was done painting it. I remember that the body needed a small amount of filler putty.

I had to pin parts of the gun (specifically the barrel and the clip/magazine), because they were so small, and there were no attachment points to speak of.

I painted the visor shades of gloss black/gray. When it was dry, I masked it off and painted the rest. Used little blobs of Blue-Tack to mask places where I was going to attach parts.

I painted mine w/ Model Master enamels, so I didn't prime it at all. Sorry I couldn't help you on that point.

Anything specific you need to ask, feel free to do so.

My first figure, some questions. . . . .

Hey all.

I'm about to build my first figure and I was just wondering a couple things.

It's an all resin VP productions 120MM Soldier 2000 (kinda a fantasy kit).

I will be painting it with acrylics.

My question is, what should I use as a primer?

I have most of it put together but I am seeing that some spots will be hard to get paint to.

Do you guys paint some parts prior to assembly?

I will have some more questions about shading later.

Thanks for any help.

P.S. are their any tutorials available on this?
