Letseeeee....

Uniforms

Acrylic Basecoat: Tamiya XF-65 (Field Gray) or Polly Scale German Uniform Gray.

Shading and shadows: Tamiya XF-63 (German Gray) with a bit of basecoat color.

Highlights: Humbrol enamels #31 lightened with #34 for high points. #31 lightened with #72 for the rest.

Boots: Black oils drybrushed with various Humbrol enamel earth tones.

This is my recipe for the "standard" Wermacht summer and wool uniforms. I like to vary the tones of my basecolors between tunics and trousers to give a more realistic effect.

Ooops. I just read what you have access to. Uhhmmmm Go with the Vallejo acrylics for your basecolors and shading and MM for all other enamels. Wish I could help more but I have never used Vallejo paints but I hear that they are quite nice.

Good luck

There are several How-To-Paint-Figures books.  Buy a couple and read through them; see what others have done/recommend, then do what works for you.

Definitelly go with Vallejo. They are designed to paint figures. They have a skin tone set of six colors, but I've been using beige red as a caucasian base with their game color dark fleshtone for shading and light flesh for highlights. YMMV. For hair, I've used golden brown as a base for blond and just got some black grey for a black hair base. Check out Valleo's website and go to "Model color" for a tutorial on their use.

Get a few good Kolinski sable brushes (a type of fur, not a brand.) I used a #2 for everyhing from eyes and beadwork to cloaks for a couple years. Kolinski sable really holds a point well. Thye're pricy, but consider them an investment.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Paint help: new guy needs advice

I'm looking for advice on getting started painting figures (WW II German).  I have built AFV kits and now want to add figures.  I have access to Valejo, Revell and Model Masters.  I was wondering is someone could built me a list of what paints I would need to start painting faces, hands, hair, etc.  I think I can figure out the uni's and equipment.  Also, if you have some brush recommendations or other products/tools you'd think would be helpful, throw those in too!  I'm thinking I need somewhere between 10-20 different colors?  Any advice would be appreciated!
