German Field Grey - Vallejo and Brushes?
Posted by Huxy on Monday, November 10, 2008 1:00 PM

Hi there...

Two simple questions that helps me those extra yards.. What Vallejo colour would be closest to the German WWII Fieldgrey?

And I have always bought brushes from Citadel who uses this "Detail Brush" and "Fine detail brush" etc. But how does this   0/0 and 5/0 system works?

Thanks,

-Huxy

Hi,

Vallejo makes a 'field grey' color -I don't have the number in front of me...also, their color 'grey/green' is very good.  It is very similar in color but a few shades lighter.

Lots of color and painting information can be found here:

Above size "0", the higher the number, the wider the brush.

Brushes smaller than size "0" are expressed as a multiple of 0 - eg. 00, 000 (sometimes expressed as 3/0),  5/0, 10/0 etc. The higher the number relative to 0, the finer the brush.

A good "0" or "00" is the smallest you really need... The finer ones, like "000" and "00000" hold so little paint they're about worthless...  Remember that it's the brush point you need to be concerned about, and what you're paying for...  Take care of those points and keep them in the tubes that they come with...
