Humm... thanks James. I'll probably be stepping into my LHS this weekend and I'll look around to see what he's got. He's usually got a good supply of 1/72 but not sure what he's got for figures. I seem to recall mostly Napoleonic (or sim) but had never really looked that close.

Appreciate your time.

Thanks,
Kevin Keefe

For the "traditional" figure, there's the Airfix/HaT Bedouins or the Esci Muslim Warriors in arab garb.

Or maybe the turban-clad figures from Esci's "Khyber Pass British Infantry" set.

Thanks for your time James. I have thought about and could probably get away with using US figures but I was hoping to find figures with (at least) the MAT 49 SMG to offset the differences visually. Minor figure tweeks would certainly be doable in that scale.

I'm even looking for an African or Middle Eastern figure in traditional clothing that may fit in as well. This project is in the very early planning stage...

Appreciate your note.

Thanks,
Kevin Keefe

I'm really not familiar with French military history and their uniforms, but from what I've seen of photos of French troops in Vietnam during the 50's, their uniforms & helmets seem pretty similar to the gear used by US troops in Korea. Some photos show them wearing berets and officers seem to be still using the typically French peaked caps.

Did they keep using this gear into the 1960's? If so, you could try converting the Imex US Army in Korea set (or even a WW2 US infantry set). The peaked caps should be fairly easy to scratchbuild and for berets, you'd probably find some amoungst the various British WW2 sets.

Don't know if that helps, but it's a suggestion...

No problem! Just sorry it wasn't what you were looking for. I know that that website is kind of hit or miss when it comes to carrying a full range of inventory from different companies, you might one to try searching around for any of Revell's other 1/72 scale figure kits (I don't know how they are quality wise, I'm more 1/35 myself so I don't know what your other options are- you might want to make a post in... maybe an aircraft or armor forum and just ask where they get their figures). But Revell might make something you are looking for that Scale Hobbyist just doesn't have at the moment.

Thanks Chris.. I appreciate the feedback! I checked out those links and didn't find quite what I'm looking for. Not sure what I'm looking for to be honest but I would like to find something to 'offset' the ACE AML. I just might go for some ground accessories... fuel drums etc but I do like to add a figure at a minimum for a scale balance.

Thanks for your time!

Thanks,
Kevin Keefe

...best I could find, sorry. At this scale though, you might be able to get away with some small modifications/paint schemes and get the right impression, can I ask what the project is?

The only issues I can see with modification would be the weapons...

I'm looking for suitable French or African UN figures in 1/72nd scale for an upcoming project and I don't know if any even exist. Any help/pointers appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin Keefe
