08' Toy soldier show haul.
Posted by smeagol the vile on Sunday, November 23, 2008 12:23 PM

Today was my dad's birthday, so I took him to the toy soldier show (he collects army men and the like, hehe)  I brought some cash, just incase, wound up spending 50$

After pricing, what I could, of my haul, I figure I got a pretty darned good deal.

Figures and Jeep 5$ each.  Vehichles, 10$ each

Those Esci kits seem alittle smaller then normal 1/35 but they are sculpted beautifully, especially the faces.

Some people spend their whole lives wondering if they made a difference. Gundams don't have that problem.

I've got two of the ARVs, and the Weapon's Carrier version of your ambulance... They're grea kits, and the ARVs are excellent dio subjects... When you start the ARV, I highly recommend that you decided if you're going to rig it before you start it... If you wait to decide until after you've started mounting the boom, you're gonna have trouble in spades...

Nice snag, BTW... You can't have too many figures sets on hand...

Yea, I know.  If I hadent of hit my 50$ limit (book fair at school next week or so, he sells books for like 1$ -5$ and really really good books too, got a TON of wwii books from him already, so wanted to save some cash) I would have bought one of evry figure kit he had, he had a bvunch of old tamiya (didnt know how to pronounce it, heh, calledem tamara) dragon kits, and a few other esci (I should have grabbed them, seeing how nice the partisans are)

Hi, Smeagol, was that the Bucks County show in Langhorne?  We probably passed each other.

The show's promoter, Ed Gries, had a bunch of Tamiya kits at his tables, a lot of infantry sets.

If it was yesterday (sunday the 23rd) and the (I got the flyer) "The 10th Annual Pennsylvania Toy Solider Military & Miniature Figure Show and Sale!" then yea.  Was Ed Gries the one with all the dragon and tamiya kits (and tectors vehichles?).

If that is the show you meant, I was the one with the long hair and glasses carrying around a big bag full of kits.

Yep, that's the one!  I was out front, we had a table set up for the MFCA, to advertize our 2009 show in Wilmington at the end of April.  But I was delayed getting down there, and got there around 10.

It seems to me that most of the business at that show is in the first hours, and then it tails off.  It's a smaller show, as toy soldier shows go, for one thing.  Ed runs a number of them, throughout the year.  His next one is down in Annandale, Virginia, on the 6th, called the Heart of the South.  I've made it down to that one some years.

I like poking around through shows like that, you never know what you'll find.

We had a table set up in the first room, where the 1/6 scale vendors were, to advertise for our 2009 show at the end of April.  I did bring along my paints and some figures, plus some finished ones, and some books, to show some general highlights about the hobby.  It was a great conversation-starter, though I couldn't really paint, because I forgot that there isn't enough light (D'OH!)  Next time, I'll pack a work light, too.

Those ESCI kits were pretty good, and many still hold up today. The Partisans kit that you purchased, and the Sturmpioneers were the best of the line IMO. You really cleaned up for only $50!
