Fantastic work on the bust, Gamewarden.

I painted an Aces of Iron 1/4 scale IJN Japanese pilot figure and the scuplt was a bit rough, but your finished product looks excellent.

I have been off line for a while. Started back to college this semester and have to dedicate a great deal of time to studies.

The cracked looking leather is pretty much cast in. The goggle strap is also cast in.

The leather looks great but for a second I was wondering how you managed to get a real woven strap for the goggles- it looked like fibers! Very well done figure, the eyes definitly turned out great

Wow! that is an awesome job! The leather looks so real and the face... superbly painted! My only critique (not pertaining to you) is the expression. Whoever sculpted it needed to refine it. Looks kinda wacky. Anyway, great job again!

Good point on the eye. Thank you very much for the compliment. The eyes are usually the hardest thing for me to paint so that they add "life" to the project.

Really nice work on the leather.

The sculptor did you a disservice on the eyes. The left eye is much bigger than the right. As a painter, there's not much you can do to hide that. You'd almost have to resculpt the left to narrow it. What you have done with the eyes, though, looks good.

I have to say that this has been an absoulte pleasure to paint. I also have to thank members of the various forums for ther helpful insight. Yourself included! Figure painting has been a great bit of fun to learn how to do. I have lurked on this sight for a couple of years and have only felt comfortable enough recently to start posting some of my work.

I will keep the updates coming. Honestly it feels great to have a community that is willing to give sage wisdom and guidance.

Thanks for the info. I was in the process of letting the midtone base coat of oils dry before I went on to the highlights. I do really appreciate the link to acesofiron though.

This bust is a 1/4 scale pilot for R/C aircraft. It is made by Aces of Iron.

The bust is being painted in Acrylics and Oils

Enjoy the photos I will post more as the build progresses.

Base coat is Acrylic Craft Paint thinned with Homebrew thinner of Windex, Denatured Alcohol, Distilled Water and Dish soap.
The paint shade is
FolkArt 942 Honeycomb
It is a close approxmiation of Tamiya Desert Yellow
