Inexpensive knights?
Posted by sawdeanz on Thursday, February 12, 2009 11:15 PM
I'm looking for a decent quality knight figure, preferably 120mm but it I have to I'll settle for 54mm. Are there any companies that produce these for about $20-$30? Most of the ones i've seen from andrea and such are too expensive but I still want a decent resin figure. I have some experience with figures in 1/35 scale and would like to make one for a friend, and thought that 120mm would make a better display but I have a hard time finding ones under like $70 or something

There aren't many inexpensive knight figures. Go to The Red Lancer and do a search for crusader or knight and you'll see just about all there is. I'm not sure where you'd find Verlinden 120 mm kits, but there were some knights in that line.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Dragon is having a sale at their online store, and have some miniart 1/16 knights on sale for 10-12$ each. I just bought a couple.

I'm not sure if you r interested in plastic knights. I just saw the other day Italeri manufacture 1/32 scale crusader knights and cost the amount you like to spend. I'm sure its pretty easy to find them online.

Visit http://2paintminiatures.com for beginners guide to painting miniature figures:-)

Thanks, I settled on Verlinden's Black prince figure, it should make a stunning display which I hope my girlfriend will appreciate. I plan on doing the tunic of the night some sort of blue intstead of black, and making a checkerboard base because she loves the renaissance fair so much and the human chess that they have. I'm hoping to allude to that in the knight figure, which is shown swinging an axe. I'll post pictures of the progress after I get it in the mail. Although the medeival subjects are more expensive (I got it for $25) verlinden also makes many soldier subjects in that scale for only 10-15 bucks, so I also bought myself a german figure : )

Imai produced a range of 1/12 knights in renaissance-era armour. With a little effort, they make up into very nice models. They've been discontinued, but can still be found if you look around. Here's a list of what they produced:

Cheers,

Chris.
