Painted Warhammer figures

I prefer the metal ones for special characters, as they usually have better detail and a much heavier feel to them. Weight implies power! But for conversions, there's no beating the plastic sets, and they are much cheaper. At least they finally started releasing the Regiment boxesa few years ago. Don't know if I'd still be playing if I had to buy every miniature individually.
Kris is right about one thing: if you take the time to mix the metal and the plastic, you can create some great looking mini's and character models. Half of the fun of WH is personalizing your army!

GO Gobos!!!!!! I prefer the metal minitures. They are harder to break. You can mix plastic and metal to make it more unique. Ok I have to admit I have only put together Orcs and Goblins, nothing big. I also haven't painted I let Scott do that...He is the MASTER!! of painting that is....

I'm the opposite, I wish they were metal. I love 'em that way.

I dont mind the prices, theyre not too bad. I do wish though that all the figures were plastic. Id rather try and remove a mold line from a plastic figure than the metal ones. I didnt know about being able to order the parts, thats great! But darn it , Im still reading these posts as if they were Chritmas poems!!

I'll admit they aren't cheap. We're paying a premium for those figures. However, comparing them to miniatures from some other manufacturers, the quality is very good. Aside from some of the mold lines and places where the pieces are connected to the sprues, there isn't a lot of work needed to get them ready for assembling and painting.

I've opened up boxes of plastic miniatures from other manufacturers to find flash completely around each piece. The details aren't as good and neither is the quality of the plastic. Visually it's quickly apparent the difference in quality.

So personally, I'm willing to pay a little bit more for their figures because I think it's worth it.

Good point. They've gone to out of their way to make ordering bitz and pieces as easy as it can get. It's easy to mix and match and build the model your own way. Not to mention they provide alternative heads, weapons, etc for their boxed core units.

You can go to their online catalog, go to the product page for almost any miniatures and it'll have a breakdown of the pieces and sprues if applicable.

Yeh i use to play the game, then stopped for a while where i picked up autos and armour for a year or 2 and now im back into 40K but its so expensive, prices raised, Like Squds were 35$ now they are 50$ see the price go up? But yeh i plan to take it slowly and only collect one army for the rest of my life=P But not sure which, anyone got suggestions?

I will willingly pay those prices. The miniatures and tanks put out by Citadel are some of the most detailed kits I've ever seen. I've never bought one of their kits that wasn't flash free. What other manufacturer will allow you to purchase individual parts from a kit, no questions asked? They really are a scratchbuilder's dream.

lol id love to show you but my warhammer collection consists of 2 marines. lol, at the prices they are hear, I am not willing to buy them. 3 bucks for a peice of freakin pewter... its crazy 60 bucks for a tank im never gonna use. anyone else have to pay these prices???
