TG and Huxy:  I'm glad you guys like it and thanks for the comments. The chipping on the ammo can, gas mask case, canteen and barrel case were done with the salt method. It produced some very realistic chipping and the salt actually discolored the paint.

There are two things in particular I like here...

Camo

Tools

I just love the shading you added to the tools. Mainly the gasmask container and the barrel casing.. I can just steer at that result for hours! Cool [8D]

Thanks guys for the positive comments. This is quite different from 1/35 scale and it makes the face a bit more difficult to detail, specially the eyes. I used the tut on the article section titled Eyes Wide Open by Brett Avants. I just may redo the eyes as I think the whites need a bit more ivory.

Really nice job all round and the skin is great. my only critasizm would be the eyes, you have overdone the whites in the eyes also the whites would look more real being a verylight flesh colour as white is too stark. Apart from that its great.Thumbs Up [tup]

Had a slight mishap with this guy but was able to repair and repaint. These larger figures are alot easier to work with than the smaller 1/35 guys. I also have two large Esci 1/9 Panzer Grenadier figures that I've had for over 20 years. Maybe they will be next.

This is my first large scale figure.  The swivels on the MG42 were carved out of thin plastic sheet and a big pain to make. The uniform was painted with Humbrol enamels and the face with artist's oils. Gave him several washes for detail. The MG strap was made from foil. This size was a lot easier on my eyes.
